How Turtle Found Her Forever Home

Timmy & Kate’s Maui Vacation Leads to Love
Last month, Timmy and Kate visited our cat café while on vacation in Maui. They instantly fell in love with Wally, one of our sweet resident cats. After heading home to Washington, they kept following our journey on Instagram, watching as more cats found their forever homes.
Then, fate stepped in. A few weeks later, they spotted our adorable tortoiseshell kitten, Turtle, and it was love at first sight! They reached out, eager to adopt her, but we needed a volunteer flyer to bring Turtle safely to Washington.
A Match Meant to Be
Through our Fly Hawaii Cats database, we checked for upcoming travelers heading to Washington. To our amazement, a volunteer named Kate had just signed up to fly a cat—the same name as Turtle’s new mom! It felt like pure destiny—Kate delivering to Kate!
With everything secured through Alaska Airlines, Turtle’s journey to her forever home was set. She flew safely with Kate and her husband, arriving happy and healthy in Washington.
A New Name with a Special Meaning
Once home, Turtle was lovingly renamed Ahi June—a name full of significance. She arrived on the day her new mom’s cat-loving grandmother passed away. Her middle name was June, and she had a tradition of calling her cats by saying, “Tuna time!!” Wanting to honor both her grandmother and Turtle’s Hawaiian roots, they chose Ahi (which means “tuna” in Hawaiian) and added June as a tribute.
Now, Ahi June is thriving in her forever home, all thanks to the kindness of her adopters and the Fly Hawaii Cats program.
