Flight Volunteers

Flying from Hawaii to the mainland? You can help a cat travel in the cabin.

Fly Hawaii Cats matches volunteer travellers with cats who already have a confirmed rescue partner or approved adopter on the mainland. Your role is to escort the cat in cabin, with the carrier under the seat in front of you. We deliver the cat to the airport, pay the fee, and we are waiting at your destination when you land to whisk the kitty away.

We fly with Alaska, Delta and Hawaiian Airlines.
These are the only airlines that fly cats in cabin from Hawaii at this time.

What a Flight Angel does

Flight Angels escort a cat during a flight they already have booked. Cats travel in cabin and remain secure throughout the journey.

• Escort a cat in cabin on your booked flight
• Keep the carrier closed and secure during travel
• Follow TSA and Fly Hawaii Cats safety steps
• Hand the cat to the confirmed pickup contact on arrival

What we provide

You are not expected to figure things out on your own. We coordinate the details and support you before, during, and after the flight.

• A clear plan before travel day
• Airport meet up coordination
• Step by step instruction videos for TSA and flight day
• Support from our team if anything changes

Before your flight

Once you submit your flight details, we review upcoming transport needs and confirm whether we can match you with a cat scheduled to travel. If a match is available, we coordinate timing and airport meet up details with everyone involved.

• You submit your flight information
• We confirm the match and meeting plan
• You arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure

What to expect at the airport

Cats travel in cabin and remain secure at all times. TSA screening is one of the highest risk points during travel, which is why we follow a consistent safety system and guide you through each step.

Read the Flight Day Guide

The Flight Day Guide explains TSA screening, the mesh bag system, and travel day expectations in detail.

Safety standards every volunteer follows

For the safety of cats, volunteers, and airline partners, all Flight Angels follow the same handling and travel standards.

• No open carriers in public spaces
• Mesh bag system used during TSA screening
• Medication only if veterinarian recommended
• Feeding and potty timing must follow provided guidelines
